New Zealand Sprintcar Championship
Max Guilford
Sprintcars are one of the marquee attractions in Speedway — raw, high-powered, heart-in-your-throat racing over dirt ovals. Drivers like our reigning champion Max Guilford race huge winged, open-wheel machines with massive power-to-weight ratios that push the limits of grip, speed and courage. In the New Zealand Sprint Car Championship, for example, Guilford will duke it out over multiple heats and then go full throttle in a 30-lap final where track position, consistency, and split-second moves make all the difference. Each lap is fast, aggressive, and unforgiving — when the tyres slide, so does your chance of winning.
Max Guilford has been one of New Zealand’s rising stars in Sprintcar racing showning serious pace, breaking track records and securing major wins including the 2024-25 New Zealand Sprintcar Champion, Feature Winner at Bloomington Speedway USA, Springs Royal 50 Lap Classic Winner 2025, and NZ South Island Champion 2025. His aggressive style, strength in heats, and ability to finish strong make him a tough competitor. 2025, Guilford is set to take on Australia’s best in the Australian Sprint Car round, bringing his wiliness and grit to battle across the Tasman.
His first Australian race is in Adelaide on the 29th November 2025.
